PD: New Haven man didn’t realize he had been shot

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– New Haven police are investigating a Saturday shooting where a man said he didn’t realize he got shot until he went home.

Police say they were dispatched to Yale- New Haven hospital around 11:07 PM after a man arrived there for treatment of a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim, identified as 21-year-old Michael Dejesus, of New Haven, told police he was walking in the area of Columbus Avenue and Arch Street when he heard several gunshots. He then said he didn’t realize he had been shot until he arrived home.

Dejesus reported seeing a light blue older Acura speed off where he heard the gunshots.

The incident is under investigation.
