Flash Flood Warnings across state


Flash Flood Warnings have been issued for northern and southern Fairfield counties until 9:30 p.m.

Warnings have also been issued for northern New Haven, northern Middlesex, southern New Haven, southern Middlesex counties until 10:30 p.m.

“We’re expecting heavy downpours for the next hour or so,” Meteorologist Erika Martin said. “More severe thunderstorms are headed our way.”

Storms were expected to arrive around 9 p.m. in the southwestern part of the state.

Traffic was picking up on I-95 southbound between exits 45 and 46. The right two lanes were closed due to flooding.

In Westport, roads have been declared impassible. Cars were stuck in the railroad underpass at Green Farms Road and Compo South Road.

Heavy flooding was occuring near Route 1 and Myrtle Avenue with cars stuck in water.

The area near 169 Imperial Avenue was flooded, making the road impassible.

Main Street at Canal was also flooded in Westport, limiting access in that area.
