E-coli reported at Mystic mobile home park

MYSTIC, Conn. (WTNH)– A handful of people in Mystic are dealing with some dirty water.

Folks at the mobile home park on High Street say they have e-coli in their water. The problem is being fixed.

Donna Havens says she was notified at the beginning of the month about high levels of the bacteria E-coli in the well at the Mystic Mobile Home Park. Management doesn’t know how it happened but it has hired a water company to treat and test the water. In the meantime, a boil water order is in effect that means no brushing or washing dishes with it unless you boil it first.

Havens called News8 because she says the owners of the mobile home park haven’t helped with the cost of the bottled water they may need until July 18th.

“It’s a long period of time July first to July 18th to expect these people that are up here that are on disability, old, or young to be paying for bottled water. I can’t afford it I used all my food stamps on bottled water,” said Havens.

We called the property manager asking if they would supply bottled water to them. She tells News 8 if the problem goes beyond Tuesday she’ll provide gallons of water to residents. In the meantime Havens says her dog has gotten sick.

But so far she and her husband seems okay.

For now Havens isn’t taking any chances she’s drinking and using bottled water but she says she can only afford so much.
