2 rescued after car crashes into river

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Two people are recovering after their car went off the interstate and into a river.

It happened around 6:30 yesterday evening near exit 30 on Interstate 84. Police say the car was traveling eastbound when it dropped about 100 feet down an embankment and landed in about three feet of water. Firefighters used a rope system to rescue the people.

No word on their names or conditions, police are still investigating the accident.
