EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – At approximately 11:10 a.m. Wednesday morning a car traveling on High Street veered off the road and hit a parked car, sending it into the bedroom of a home.
East Hartford police say there were three people in their 20’s traveling in a car. No one was home at the time of the crash. The driver, who police are only identifying as a woman, is listed as being in critical condition. The two passengers they say, both males, are not critical. Police say before first responders could arrive on scene, lifeguards at the public pool across the street jumped into action to help, even some witnesses told News 8 they too dropped what they were doing and did the same.
“The girl looked unconscious so I touched her real quick and she had moved and groaned and I didn’t want to touch her any further because I didn’t want to risk any more injury to her,” said witness, Stuart Sevene.
It was a gruesome scene, one those who saw it all happen think was the consequence of driving to fast.
“Speed was definitely a factor. I don’t know why they were going as fast,” added Sevene.
But while some may be convinced that the cause of the accident was speed, police say they’re still not sure and have brought out accident reconstruction teams to find an answer once and for all.
