NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)- Mayor Toni Harp is asking residents to donate children’s books to the New Haven Reads program’s book drive.

It’s the third annual book drive. The drive gives free books to community members and tutoring to low-income children having trouble in school.

In New Haven a little over a quarter of third graders read at or above their grade level.

This organization gives away 100,000 books each year. They’re hoping for 50,000 books int his book drive.
