First Selectman Michael Freda gives Gil Simmons the 'Key to the Town', July 17, 2014.

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A great morning and a great crowd greeted News 8 and Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons as Good Morning Connecticut was On the Green in North Haven Thursday.

News 8 viewers stopped by the gazebo on the Green to say ‘hi’, play some music, or sample some Dunkin Donuts coffee and treats.

During the morning North Haven First Selectman Michael Freda paid a visit and gave Gil the Key to the Town. “I think you’d make a good North Haven chief elected official,” Freda said to Gil.

“This Green is really a symbolic representation of what North Haven is all about,” Freda said.

Here’s the rest of the On The Green with Gil Schedule:

  • July 24th – Middlebury Town Green – Route 188 & Village Green Road
  • July 31st – Mystic
  • August 7th – Middletown Town Green – south end of Main Street
  • August 14th – Milford Town Green – located at the split between Route 162 & Broad Street
  • August 21st – Central Row by State House in Hartford
