Arrest made in beating of Hamden teen

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH)- A Hamden man was arrested after police say he assault a 15-year-old boy, getting off the school bus.

Police say it happened back in May near Burke Street and George Street.

Police say a 15-year-old boy got off a school bus and was followed by a group of about 4 teenagers. Police say the victim was punched and kicked until he fell to the ground, and his book bag and sneakers were removed.

The victim had injuries to his arms, hands and stomach area, according to police.

Police have arrested 18-year-old Shamont Newton in connection with the assault. He is charged with robbery, assault, larceny and conspiracy.
