COVENTRY, Conn. (WTNH) — A Coventry man is being held on a $10,000 bond after his arrest for threatening, and it involves a machete.

Richard Estell, Jr., 48, is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Monday. Police were called to Estell’s home on Mohegan Trail around 2:15 Saturday morning after someone reported a person possibly being held against their will.

“At that time, the suspect was seen to be armed with a machete,” Sgt. Christopher Fiore said in a news release. “The Capitol Region Emergency Services Team (CREST) was activated and responded to assist.”

Police say the victim was able to get out of the house uninjured.

Estell was arrested without incident a short time later. He faces charges of threatening and disorderly conduct, police said. He’s being held on a $10,000 bond.
