Wanted for robbing a Mystic bank

STONINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Stonington police released a surveillance picture Saturday of a man suspected of robbing a bank in Mystic at gunpoint.

The People’s United Bank branch on Roosevelt Ave. was robbed just before 11:30 Friday.

“The investigation showed that a male subject had walked into the bank, pointed a gun at the teller and handed the teller a note demanding money,” police said in a statement. “The subject fled on foot in an unknown direction.”

Police did not say how much money the robber got away with.

Police described their suspect as an African American or Hispanic man in his late 20s or early 30s. He’s 5’9″ to 5’11” tall, heavy build, and was sporting a short trimmed beard. He was wearing a ball cap, long sleeve grey shirt, dark pants and dark shoes.

Police ask anyone who may have seen the man or know who he is, to call police at 860-599-4411.
