Pedestrian killed by car in Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Police in Stamford are investigating after a woman was hit and killed by a car.

It happened at the intersection of Summer and Hoyt Streets around noontime yesterday. Police say Janice Pielert, 58, was in the crosswalk when she was struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe attempting to turn left. She died at the hospital. The driver of the car also went to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to give them a call.
