Police: Man robbed senior, tried to use check

WATERTOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Watertown police need your help to find a purse snatcher.

Police said an elderly woman entered Stop & Shop, 763 Straits Turnpike, at 10:05 a.m. Wednesday when a man grabbed her purse and pushed her to the ground. He then ran out of the store and drove away on a newer model black Nissan, police said. The woman was not injured.

He allegedly tried to use one of the woman’s checks at a Stop & Shop in Waterbury a short time later.

The man was described as a white male, 25 to 35 years old, with a brown goatee. He wore a Detroit Tigers baseball hat with a “D” on it, a black t-shirt with flames on it, and blue and white plaid shorts and sneakers.
