Man arrested in East Windsor shooting

EAST WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) — An East Hartford man is charged with a July 12 shooting at Mill Pond Village.

East Windsor police said Carlton Depeyster, 22, with a last known address in East Hartford, shot Jayson Swain on July 12. Depeyster was on parole at the time, police said.

The suspect is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree kidnapping with a firearm, first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree kidnapping with a firearm, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny.

Police said he was arrested by warrant late July 23 in Hartford. He was scheduled to appear in Enfield Superior Court July 24, but the case could be transferred to Hartford Superior Court. The incident is still under investigation and additional arrests are possible, police said.
