SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) — A man accused of chasing a female acquaintance with a hatchet July 21 made an appearance in Manchester Superior Court.

Timothy McCarthy, 40, is charged with criminal violation of a protective order, breach of peace, threatening and interfering with an officer.

“On July 21,  South Windsor Police officers responded to a domestic dispute at a Dart Hill Road home.  A woman complained that her boyfriend had been chasing her with a hatchet. The man had fled the home into a nearby wooded area,” police said at the time. He later violated a protective order by sending the woman text messages, police said.

His next court date is Aug. 29.
