SUFFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — A seventh-grader died after he was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle on Mountain Road Thursday afternoon.

A letter from the school district identified the boy as Francis Anthony Alamo.

“It is with deep sadness that I am sharing with you the tragic loss of one of our students, Francis Anthony Alamo (grade 7). Anthony was riding his bicycle on Mountain Road with two of his friends this afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle. Anthony was a bright, creative young man who brought positive energy to every class and activity that he participated in,” schools Supt. Karen Baldwin said Thursday night. “In an effort to help provide support to our students during this difficult time, counselors will be available at Suffield Middle School on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. A schedule for counseling next week will be communicated on our website (www.suffield.org) on Friday afternoon.”

“I know you join me in extending our deepest sympathies to the Alamo family,” she wrote.

No further information was available on the crash from police.
