Middletown PD radios hacked, used for ‘degrading’ messages

Middletown police

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — News 8 has learned a hacker has been making bogus announcements on the Middletown Police Department’s radio system.

The Public Information officer for the Middletown Police Department confirms their radios have been hacked by someone who has used the system to make comments that are degrading to women. And now more recently, the person has pretended to be a police officer.

It’s not clear how long this has been going on for, but we are told the department has been in contact with the FCC to help investigate the situation. This issue was brought to our attention by officials with the department’s police Union, but neither they nor officers with the department would agree to talk about what’s been happening.
