Westbrook, Conn. (WTNH) – Beach Jam for Breast Cancer happens on Saturday at the Westbrook Elks Club.

Unlike almost all breast cancer fundraisers, it focuses 100 percent on making the treatment of breast cancer as comfortable as possible. The money it raises goes to Patient Services at The Smilow Cancer Hopsital at Yale New Haven, and the Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center. These funds help the patients get special apparel for recovery, which, most times is not covered by insurance, and anything else that will help make the treatment and recovery as bearable as possible.

The event takes place at the Westbrook Elks Club, 142 Seaside Ave., Westbrook. And yes, they really have a private beach for use that day as well.

The gates are open at 12 p.m., and music (seven bands, plus between-set acoustics) goes from 12:45 p.m. until around 9:30 p.m.. There will be food and drink for purchase as well. Memorabilia will also be sold.
