Man charged in Motel 6 robbery

BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — An East Haven man is accused of robbing Motel 6 on East Main Street on June 17.

Richard Filipelli, 55, of Short Beach Road, is charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery. Police said two men had entered the motel and leaped over the counter, grabbed the cash draw containing about $218 in cash, and fled.

Police identified one of the suspects,caught on surveillance camera, as Filipelli. They said they had “numerous, previous interactions” with him. His bond was set at $150,000 for an appearance Monday in New Haven Superior Court.
