NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The New Haven Green in downtown New Haven was booming with energy Saturday night, as well known rap group Salt N Pepa put thousands of fans on their feet.

The ladies hip hop duo from New York formed in 1985. They are recognized for their big hits “Push It”, “Shoop”, and “Let’s Talk About Sex”.

They broke into the rap game when rappers were predominantly male.

Food trucks and refreshments were available to everyone who attended.

The event was presented by the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven.

Salt N Pepa told us they were so thrilled to see so many people come out and enjoy themselves. They also said that they are working on a new project.
