PD: man tries to rob gas station with crowbar

BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH)– Bristol police have arrested a man they say tried to rob a gas station with a crowbar just after midnight Sunday.

Police say that at 12:08 a.m. they saw a man running away from the Citgo gas station/ convenience store at 551 Farmington Avenue. Police chased him down and arrested the man, later identified as 53-year-old Juan Gonzales.

Officers say they saw Gonzales with a crowbar and when they caught up with him, a police K-9 officer found the crowbar under a nearby car. The convenience store had some damage to it indicating sometone tried to force their way in.

Gonzales was charged with criminal attempt at burglary , criminal attempt at larceny, possession of burglary tools and criminal mischief. He was held on a $40,000 bond and will be in court Monday.
