Season Dishes with Barb Scala

New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) – This is a great time of year to reap some delicious vegetables growing in the garden.

In season right now is Kale, Kohrabi, and beets. Eating fresh food is easy when you buy at a local food market. Even on a small piece of land you can grow things like herbs, just seed, water and sun is needed.

Kale is in season now, as well as arugula, basil and local shrimp. Out of rainbow Swiss chards, you can make bruchetta and add a little ginger to it. Beets make a red juice but many throw away the leaves even though you don’t have to. You can make some great wilted salad.
