BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — A teenager faces charges after a street robbery on Center Street on Tuesday.

Police did not identify him because of his age, but he was charged with first-degree robbery.

Police said Officer Raymond Ryan was on patrol when he observed a young male on a red bicycle riding past him. A short distance later, the officer was flagged down by a man who stated he had just been robbed by two males. One was riding a red bicycle, he told Ryan, police said.

Ryan checked the area and observed the male on a red bike and detained him.

“The juvenile stated he didn’t know anything about a robbery and stated that he was on probation for a robbery and assault,” police said. “As Ryan was speaking with the suspect, the victim approached and stated, ‘That’s him.’”

The alleged victim gave a statement to detectives, police said.
