WTNH– For this month’s Knights of Columbus charity spotlight, president of Special Olympics CT Robert “Beau” Doherty and Special Olympics athlete Tony Petruzzello talk about Special Olympics Connecticut.

SOCT is actively developing and promoting its Unified Sports Program. Unified Sports is one of the most successful Special Olympics programs.

This month, the focus is on Special Olympics Connecticut and its 45-year history of serving children and adults with intellectual disabilities through year-round sports training and athletic competition. SOCT assists more than 7,000 athletes in local, regional and state events. Each year, SOCT hosts 70 or more tournaments and competitions in 27 different sports.

The SOCT program is one of the most innovative and dynamic in the world, involving thousands of people throughout the state.

Special Olympics World Games will be held in Los Angeles, July 25 – August 2, 2015.
