BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) – A 50-year-old man was stabbed early Wednesday during a dispute with a man who tried to steal his bike, police said.

Police said Officer Jeffrey Holtz spoke with the victim, who said he was injured while scuffling with a man who attempted to steal his bicycle outside a Park Avenue gas station at about 1:30 a.m.

The injury was not life threatening, and the victim said he could not provide a detailed description of the suspect, police said.

In a separate incident, a Bridgeport man allegedly hit a woman because she discarded his beer. Melvin Gonzalez, 49, is accused of punching her and then leaving the home, but was later found and arrested.

He is charged with-third degree assault and disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $2,500 for an appearance in Bridgeport Superior Court.
