One dead, one stable, in New Haven shooting

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — One man is now dead and another has non-life-threatening injuries after a double shooting late Friday at Chapel Street and Kensington Road.

Police say Tyrese Jones, 26, died around midnight at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and Troy Mitchell also 26, was taken to Yale-New Haven as well where he remains in stable condition. A gun was recovered at scene, added Officer David Hartman, police spokesman. It is New Haven’s eighth homicide this year.

Late Friday, police released few details about the 10 p.m. shooting, including any description of the suspects or the vehicle in which they fled.
