HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – Two Hartford men are accused of beating and stealing $300 from three people at a gas station on July 30.

Kevin Miller, 20, is charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree assault, first-degree criminal mischief, attempted second-degree larceny and third-degree criminal mischief. Wilfred Rodriguez, 21, is charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree assault, first-degree criminal mischief, attempted second-degree larceny and third-degree criminal mischief.

Police said the three people, two women and one man, reported they were beaten and robbed when they stopped at a Mobil station on Weston Street at 8:25 p.m. to buy drinks. The suspects took $300, and tried to steal the trio’s car before fleeing in a Ford Explorer, police said.

The suspects “implied they had firearms, were Latin King members and would shoot [the alleged victims],” police said. Members of the Shooting Task Force located and stopped the suspects’ vehicle in the area of 555 Windsor St., where the trio identified the suspects. One person was treated for minor injuries, police said.

The Major Crimes Division responded and assisted with the investigation.
