West Haven, Conn. (WTNH) – Police officers are helping a family found living in a tent.  Police say it was a young couple with a 1-year-old baby.  They have been living in a wooded area near a church. Police say there was no shelter space available for the family, so officers put the family into a hotel for the night.  Officers donated their own money to pay for the room, and then dispatchers chipped into, paying for clothing, food and diapers for the family. The police department is now working to get the family into temporary shelter.

donated items can be delivered to W.H.E.A.T, 674 Washington Ave., West Haven, CT 06516, (203) 931-9877
