HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Proposals for a new plan regarding the New Britain Rock Cats and a stadium in Hartford are expected to be presented today.
The city council will take a look at those revised stadium plans tonight. Many have been divided over whether to bring Rock Cats to the city. The proposals for a new stadium bought on numerous protests, though some officials say the 9,000 seat baseball stadium would create new jobs and attract many visitors to the Hartford area.
Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra says the ballpark has attracted significant economic interest that has not existed until now. He says it’s all about the redevelopment of the entire Downtown North area, creating jobs for city residents.
The final resolution for new deal is due August 11.
