Police chase ends with motorcyclist dead in crash

A man leads police on a chase through two towns before crashing into a pole.


BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH)- A man has died after leading Fairfield police on a chase through the city early Sunday, that eventually ended when he crashed into a utility pole in Bridgeport.

The man, identified as 23-year-old Arthur De-Andrade-Leao, of Bridgeport, crashed his motorcycle into a utility pole just over the Bridgeport/Fairfield line on North Avenue. He attempted to elude Fairfield police after they tried to pull him over on Kings Highway East. He was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport in critical condition where he was being treated for a compound fracture as well as “major internal injuries” according to Bridgeport police. He later died of his injuries.

State Police Troop G are assisting in the investigation and are handing the reconstruction of the accident scene.
