How to change your relationship with food

(WTNH)– Psychotherapist Heidi D. Hughart explains Appetite Awareness Training and how to change your relationship to food.

Three questions that can change your life are: “Am I really hungry”, “Is this a good choice for me”, “Is this an appropriate amount of food for one person?”

Change your focus, socialize without food being the center of attention.  Challenge your thoughts.  Learn to recognize real hunger vs. emotional hunger, feel empowered by your ability to exercise free will.  This isn’t about being a size 2, it is about feeling in control around food.

Hughart has over ten years of experience working with individuals who desire to change their relationship with food.  She has experience working with individuals with BED (Binge Eating Disorder), bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa. She is a National Certified Counselor with a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling. She has a private practice in Branford.
