HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A “violent prisoner” kicked and spit at a Hartford police officer while handcuffed to a hospital bed, police said Monday.

The incident happened early Sunday morning at Hartford Hospital, where police had restrained Austin Dukett, 24, of Portland. According to police Dukett had assaulted several police officers at a concert. Both of Dukett’s hands were cuffed to the bed.

“The suspect was upset he was arrested and wanted to have some fun,” a police report said. “He (Dukett) started trying to make the bed flip.”

While trying to stop Dukett a police officer was kicked in the right hand, and was then spit at when he called for another officer to bring a Taser.

Dukett is charged with assault on a police officer, second degree assault, and other crimes. He’s held on $500,000 bond.
