New Fairfield woman accused of child abuse

NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — A New Fairfield woman is facing a judge Wednesday, accused of abusing five children in her home.

27-year-old Alexandra Aucapina turned herself in to police on an outstanding warrant. She is accused of “varying levels” of abuse and is facing a list of charges. Police say they started investigating in February when the state Department of Children and Families notified them.

Little information has been released, but say the Department of Children and Family Services have removed the children from the home. Aucapina has been charged with five counts of risk of injury to a minor, one count of second degree assault, two counts of first degree reckless endangerment, two counts of first degree unlawful restraint, and two counts of cruelty to a child.

She was released on $25,000 bond.
