DERBY, Conn. (WTNH)– Route 8 is back open in Derby after a tractor trailer truck caught on fire today.

Police closed Route 8 Northbound at exit 16, just before Atwater Avenue, earlier so emergency crews could respond to the accident. The DOT said the accident was reported just before 1:30 PM.

The fire is out and the lanes are open. There were no injuries. A Report It picture was sent in of the septic water tanker that caught on fire.

Lt. Vance from the Connecticut State Police says the septic tanker truck hit a mattress on the highway which lead to the fire.
