Tax free shopping week starts Aug. 17

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Just in time for back-to-school shopping, tax-free shopping week runs from Aug. 17 through Aug. 23.

During that week, the sales or purchases of clothing or footwear costing less than $300 per item are sales-tax free.

For a full list of items, visit the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services website.

But the list of items is athletic socks; baseball hats; belts; suspenders; belt buckles; bicycle sneakers (without cleats); clerical vestments and religious clothing; diapers (cloth or disposable, adult or child); dresses; gloves; hats; caps; hiking boots; jeans; rain jackets; rented uniforms; robes; scarves; shirts; shoes without cleats; shoelaces; sleepwear; sneakers; socks; square dancing clothes; and swimsuits.
