Home for seniors accused of violations

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A New Haven home for elderly people living on a low income is being ordered to fix many violations.

The Hanna Gray Home is a 20 bed facility for elderly people who are considered low income. A 9-page report by the Department of Health which came out back in June shows that what’s going on inside is not up to par with the state.

The report is based on two unannounced visits the state made to the facility back in May. According to the New Haven Register, the state found the home failed to obtain written permission regarding medication administration. Also, medications were not properly stored.

The report also goes on to say that medications weren’t being given to patients in accordance with doctors orders, and some staff were doing jobs they weren’t authorized to do. One former employee even says that management is non-existent and that residents are not being supervised properly.

A plan of correction has been filed. The Hannah Gray Home now has to fix the violations. The Health Department says it will follow up to make sure violations are being addressed.
