Funeral today for teen killed in boat accident

STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The funeral for Greenwich teen Emily Fedorko, killed in a boating accident last week, will be held this morning at 11 a.m. at St. Clement Church, 535 Fairfield Ave., in Stamford. Interment will follow to Putnam Cemetery, in Greenwich.

In addition to her devoted parents she is survived by a brother, Joseph Patrick; a sister, Kelsey Rose; paternal grandmother Rosemarie Fedorko, Trumbull, and maternal grandparents Catherine and Paul Gatesman of Ludlow, MA. Also, Uncles Douglas Fedorko and wife Joyce, Huntington; Michael Fedorko Sr., Easton; Aunt Linda Bonitati, Trumbull; Uncles Peter Gagne and wife Tracey, Georgia, and John Gagne and wife Christina, Georgia. Cousins Elizabeth, Cynthia, and Mary, Trumbull; Michael Jr. and Curtis Fedorko, Monroe; Sean, Andrew and Michael Gagne, Georgia. Also, cherished relatives, Arlene & Gerald Millbauer, Easton; and other Millbauers, Franklins, Hauswirths, and canine friend, Bailey.

She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Joseph Fedorko Sr.; her maternal grandfather, Arthur Gagne; and her maternal step-grandfather Mark Coffey.

According to her obituary, Fedorko was entering her junior year at Greenwich High School, where she was an honors student, a gymnast and lacrosse player. “In earlier times she was a cheerleader for the North Mianus Bulldogs. She had a sweet voice and appeared in theater productions at Greenwich High,” it said.

She was also an experienced swimmer, and was certified in watercraft operation.

“She will be greatly missed by all,” according to the obit.

Fedorko and a friend were wounded by the boat propeller in a tubing accident, and Fedorko died at the scene.
