BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — A 22-year-old pedestrian suffered potentially life-threatening injuries in a hit-and-run crash Saturday morning, police said.

The man was hit about 4:39 a.m. at Park Avenue and Vine Street, and the Serious Accident Investigation Team responded, police said.

“Investigators learned that the victim was crossing the street when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. Based on witness accounts, the vehicle accelerated through the intersection as the traffic signal changed and struck the victim. The driver applied the brakes after the impact. The driver then fled the scene,” police added.

The vehicle was described as a white or light-colored Acura Integra with dark-tinted windows and damage to the sunroof that resulted from the incident.

The incident remains under investigation.
