RIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) – Bridgeport Police are investigating another round violence to take place in their city and this time the victim we’re told is just 21 years old.
Authorities say the person who lost their life is a Bridgeport native named Ryan Hernandez. He was shot in the chest early Sunday afternoon near the intersection of Park Avenue and Olive Street.
No arrests have yet been made but Police do tell us witnesses say they saw an altercation take place between Hernandez and the person who pulled the trigger. That person they add was seen fleeing the area in a dark colored sedan.
This is the 6th homicide to happen in the city of Bridgeport this year and those that live near where this latest killing took place say they’re tired of scenes of violence.
“I hope they get it together out here,” said neighbor, Michael Cabral. “They don’t have nothing for the kids out here.”
Officials with the Bridgeport Police department tell us they are now in the process of interviewing witnesses and looking in to see if any cameras in the area caught what may have happened. They add it is to early in the investigation to tell if this shooting was in any way gang related.
