I wrote an article just over a year ago which chronicled the single event that lit my fuse for storm chasing and spotting, the powerful and destructive 1989 Cornwall to Hamden tornado. In the article, ‘The_tornado_that_changed_my_life‘ I tell you the reader everything you need in order to understand what has fueled me in the pursuit of severe weather ever since that memorable day. Never, in my wildest dreams, did I expect to blow the doors off (please forgive the pun) of that experience, yet that’s exactly what happened to me around 1:00PM on Sunday, July 27th, 2014. And I didn’t have to go very far for this to happen either…try approximately a mile from my house! What follows are some of the most amazing photos and videos I’ve ever been fortunate enough to take, along with my commentary on the day and it’s events as they unfolded.

There we were, just your’s truly and a simply stunning tornado…who ever would have thought it?
