(WTNH)– Douglas Kneissl and Karin Zamolsky from the Harugari Singing Society German-American Club talk about their upcoming events and children’s group performs.

2014 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Harugari Jr Schuhplattler group. They had a reunion of alumni dancers and presents a plaque to Ewald Walz, son of the late Albert Walz who founded the kids group in 1974.  In June they also hosted the 21st Annual Mid-Atlantic Kinderfest, an annual festival geared towards German club children’s dance groups.  This year over 150 kids from 12 clubs, from 5 states and 1 from Montreal Canada attended the festival.

The Harugari Singing Society founded in 1875.  It has been in its present location since 1950.  They hold over 12 events each year and our Dancing and Singing groups perform at several festivals at the club and throughout the state. In February both the singers and dancers performed at a Bridgeport Sound Tigers game.

Here’s a list of upcoming events:

August 17 – Bierfest / Pig Roast at the Harugari 1-6p
August 24 – Summer International Folk Festival, Warsaw Park Ansonia CT
