Man’s body pulled from Derby lake in suspected drowning

DERBY, Conn. (WTNH)– The body of an Ansonia man was pulled from a lake in Derby today.

Police say at around 6 a.m., officers discovered the body of a 33-year-old man near the dam at Witek Park, by Sentinel Hill Road. An investigation revealed that the victim had been fishing during an evening and drowned. The man’s family called police early Friday morning because he had not returned home from fishing in the small lake.

The victim’s body was recovered by the Shelton Police Department dive team. The incident is under investigation pending the results of the autopsy and toxicology report. The name of the victim is being withheld until family is notified.
