BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Bridgeport state Rep. Christina Ayala won’t be returning to the General Assembly for a second term after some legal problems.
Ayala lost the Democratic primary in the 128th House District Tuesday. Unofficial totals showed Chris Rosario winning with 467 votes. Dennis Bradley was second with 176 votes, while Ayala got 136 and Teresa Davidson received 106. Rosario will face Republican Ethan Book in the November general election.
Ayala was fined $350 for a hit-and-run car accident shortly after winning the 2012 Democratic primary for the House seat. She later got into a fight with her boyfriend and faced domestic violence charges, which were dropped after she completed counseling.
State officials are investigating whether Ayala broke elections laws by using a false address.
Ayala didn’t immediately return a phone message Wednesday.
