ROCKY HILL, Conn. (WTNH) – Bill Grouten of Burlington has earned six figures (before taxes) since he won the “$100,000 Cashword 6” game.

According to a press release, “I like the $10 Cashword game the best, probably because I’ve been lucky with winning.  I buy my tickets at different places,” Grouten said.  “This time, I had five red words, so I knew that a sixth red word had to be there.  All I needed was one more letter.”

At the bottom of puzzle two, Grouten found his $100,000 top prize win in a sixth red word—AWAY.  “What a feeling—it was fantastic!” said Grouten. After taxes, he pocketed about $69,000.

“This is amazing,” said Grouten with a big smile.  “I’m going to put this money right in the bank, and help my two kids.”

Grouten purchased his winning ticket at Daily Mart, located at 1660 Stafford Ave. in Burlington, officials said.  The store will receive a $1,000 check from the Connecticut Lottery for selling the ticket. There are 20 top prizes in the game $100,000 Cashword 6 with 13 more top prizes remaining to be claimed. Odds of winning a prize in $100,000 Cashword 6 are 1 in 3.21, Connecticut Lottery officials said.
