HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Colorful vessels will swarm the Connecticut River in Hartford this weekend during the 14th annual Riverfront Dragon Boat and Asian Festival.

Organizers are expecting more than 93 dragon boat racing teams including about 3,000 paddlers from nine states at the festival, which is set for Saturday and Sunday at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza.

The festivities include live Asian music and dance performances, food, martial arts demonstrations, merchandise vendors, an Asian beer garden and arts and crafts for children.

Admission to the Asian Festival is free, while there are fees to enter the dragon boat races.

The Hartford event is on the Top 10 list of dragon boat festivals in America compiled by Top Events USA.
