Merle’s Record Rack owner Mike Papa talks music, old shop

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)–If you’ve lived in New Haven for any length of time, you’ll remember Merle’s Record Rack, which opened in 1962. It doesn’t exist in New Haven anymore (it’s moved to Orange), but a teenager who started working there when he was 15 now owns the place.

Merle’s is in Orange now, and it’s chocked full of music memorabilia and tons of vinyl records. Mike Papa, now the store’s owner, is still passionate about the music.

He joined us in the News 8 studios tonight for this edition of “Nyberg.”
