NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– It’s back to the books for nearly 280 Quinnipicac law students. This year they’re in a new state-of-the-art building on the north campus.
“It’s just walking in here and seeing everything completely brand new and redone, it is impressive,” said Kevin Fitzpatrick, Law student at Quinnipiac.
Denise Krall, also a Law student, adds, “I was really impressed how it all came together. We had sort of seen it throughout the summer being built.”
It took years of planning with architects designing the new building. The center has a realistic courtroom, team study rooms, as well as quiet study areas where students can zone-in and focus on their work.
Jennifer Brown, Dean of the School of Law, tells News 8 that “we have these soaring kind of spaces here in the library that are very inspiring and that kind of create that sense of an intellectual center of gravity for the law school.”
Erica Rocha, who is in her third year of law at Quinnipiac University says, “the fact that we have so many team study rooms for small groups of students to get together to discuss classes, gear up for exams, is really an amazing opportunity.”
Students say this kind of professional environment will prepare them for the real world.
“I’m looking forward to us having our own space even though the Quinnipiac campus is beautiful,” said Krall. “It’s kind of nice to know we have this professional environment just for graduate studies now.”
