Contractor charged with taking nearly $18,000

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Police say an unlicensed contractor took $17,645 but did not finish the job.

John Foristall, 49, of Fairfield, agreed to do a carpentry job in February 2014, but never finished it. He is charged with making home improvements without a certificate of registration, among other violations, police said. The state all contractors to be licensed.

Foristall also faces charges of use of fictitious trade name and violation of state building code. His bond was set at $25,000 bond for an Aug. 22 appearance in Bridgeport Superior Court.
