Police: student driver crashed into Trumbull bank, fled

TRUMBULL, Conn. (WTNH) — A student driver crashed into TD Banknorth and walked away about 1 a.m. Sunday, police said Tuesday.

“The operator was learning to drive and panicked, leaving the road, mounting the curb and striking the front door and glass of the bank causing heavy damage,” said Trumbull Police Lt. Leonard Scinto. “The operator and the passenger left the scene and were located walking about a mile away.”

The driver was charged with reckless driving, evading, driving without insurance and driving without a license.
