Bridgeport man accused of arson

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — A man allegedly set a bag of garbage on fire.

Santiraj Chounlamountry, 31, of Bridgeport, is charged with first-degree arson, first-degree reckless endangerment, three counts of criminal mischief and a single count of disorderly conduct.

The Fire Department responded to a report of a 2 a.m. structure fire at 1810 Stratford Ave. “A relative of the suspect told police that the suspect came to the residence and discovered his video game system was missing. He broke a television and then lit a garbage bag on fire,” police said. “Police responded and received a description of the suspect. An officer observed him walking on Arctic Street and detained him.”

Chounlamountry’s bond was set at $75,000 for an appearance in Bridgeport Superior Court.
