STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Stamford police arrested a livery cab driver on sexual assault charges involving a teenage girl who says he got her pregnant.

Police arrested Andre Joseph, 57, early Friday morning on charges of sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

According to police, Joseph has been having a sexual relationship with the girl since she was 12 years old. The girl, now 14, went to police after finding out she was pregnant.

“Joseph groomed this female for years until it led to a sexual relationship,” police said in a statement. “Further DNA testing will be conducted to determine if Joseph is the father of the baby.”

Police told News 8 the girl has already delivered the baby.

Joseph had moved to New Haven and Bridgeport area to avoid police, but came back to Stamford believing he was going to pick up a fare to JFK airport in New York. “As Joseph arrived in his Livery cab he was taken into custody without incident,” police said.

He was originally held on a $25,000 court set pond, but police hoped to have that increased because Joseph reportedly told friends he may return to Haiti.
